Mohamad
Bazzi
Mohamad wrote for NYC from 1990-97. He earned a degree
in Urban Studies from the City University of New York's BA Program.
During college he published dozens of articles as a freelance
writer in Newsday, and also held internships at the Village
Voice and Washington Post. Newsday hired him as a full-time
reporter on graduation and named him Middle East Bureau Chief
in 2003. |

advocate for Good Shepherd Services and Advocates for Children.
She is currently a social work assistant at Maimonides Medical

Jay wrote for NYC during 1986-7. He received a BA in Media Communication
from Hunter College. He has worked as a meeting planner at Smith
Barney and in the tax reporting department of Greenwich Street
Capital Partners. He is currently facilities manager and coordinator
at Citigroup Investments Inc. |

Birnbaum
Michael, NYC class of 1986, earned an undergraduate degree in
Social Studies from Wesleyan University and a graduate degree
in Public Policy and Economics from the London School of Economics
and Cambridge University. He has worked at the U.S. Senate Committee
on Governmental Affairs, the American Cancer Society, the Alpha
Center and the Congressional Budget Office. He currently works
at the United Hospital Fund. |

Herbert
Block
After graduating from Columbia University with a degree in Urban
Studies, Herbert was a special assistant to the Manhattan Borough
President from 1986 to 1989. He was a mayoral assistant during
the David Dinkins administration and deputy director for intergovernmental
relations for the Corporation for National Service in Washington,
D.C. He then became assistant director for intergovernmental
and public affairs at New York City's Independent Budget Office.
Currently, he is assistant executive vice president at the American
Jewish Joint Distribution Committee. He earned a law degree
from Brooklyn Law School in 1999. He wrote for NYC in 1982-83. |

University. She was a self-employed computer consultant and
