Agustin
Rodriguez
Agustin was an artist at NYC in 1985. He has a degree in Media
Arts/Illustration from the School of Visual Arts. He has worked
as a theater, television, and film actor. Agustin appeared in
the feature films "Final Analysis" and "Falling
Down," and in the independent film "Forgiven."
He had a principal role in the ABC-TV series "Moon Over
Miami," and guest starred on "New York Undercover."
He was a lead in the TV movie "Generation X." He is
a full-time Christian minister and is a volunteer acting teacher
at the H.O.P.E. School of the Arts. |

Lourdes
Rosado
Lourdes helped start New Youth Connections in 1980 and was its
teen editor for a year. After graduating from Swarthmore College,
she was an editor at Newsweek before attending Columbia University's
School of International Affairs. She later earned a law degree
from New York University and was a Prettyman Fellow at Georgetown
University Law School, with a focus on juvenile justice. She
currently is a staff attorney at the Juvenile Law Center in
Philadelphia. She has also been a board member of Youth Communication.

Jean-Andre Sassine
Jean was an artist at Youth Communication from 1983 to 1987.
He graduated from New York City Technical College at the City
University of New York with a degree in Art and Advertising.
He also attended the Director's Guild Training Program. He has
been a production assistant on several television shows and
has worked as a location manager for many of Spike Lee's movies. |

Kenneth
Schlapp
Kenneth, NYC 1986-87, is the only Youth Communication graduate
with a degree in Statistics (Hunter College). He was supervisor
of group benefits for the Segal Company and is currently a manager
there. |

Taiia
Smart-Young
Taiia graduated from Johnson C. Smith University with a degree
in Telecommunications. She interned at Essence magazine, Fox
WCCB, and Mahoney Communications. She has been a freelance writer
and assistant editor at Essence, and is currently director of
content at www.shine365.com. Taiia was at Youth Communication
in 1990. |

Celeste
Smith
Celeste has a degree in Journalism from Long Island University.
She is a reporter for the Charlotte Observer and was previously
on the staff of the Bucks County Courier Times and the Asbury
Park Press. She wrote for NYC in 1985-86. |

Dina
Strachan
Dina wrote for NYC in 1981-82. She earned an BA in Biology from
Harvard and an MD from the Yale University School of Medicine.
She has been a professor in the internal medicine department
at UCLA and Charles R. Drew University, and has lectured and
published widely. She is currently on the staff of the Department
of Dermatology at St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital in New York.

Rachel
Swarns
Rachel wrote for NYC in 1984 and 1985. A graduate of Howard
University, she interned at the Wall Street Journal and has
been a staff reporter for the St. Petersburg Times, the Miami
Herald and The New York Times. She became the South Africa Bureau
Chief for The Times in 1999. |

Ayelet
Talmi
Ayelet attended Brown University and State University of New
York at Binghamton, earning a degree in Psychology. She is currently
pursuing a Ph.D. in Clinical and Developmental Psychology at
the University of Denver. She interned at Planned Parenthood
and at a battered women's shelter in Jerusalem. She has worked
as a researcher at the Children's Television Workshop, the Alan
Guttmacher Institute, the New York State Psychiatric Institute
and the Prevention Center. Ayelet is now an intern at The Children's
Hospital in Denver, Co. She wrote for NYC in 1989. |
