The
Youth Communication Budget
Expenses:
In recent years, the Youth Communication budget has been around
$1 million a year. Nearly $700,000 of that is salaries and benefits
for a dozen staff and consultants, which reflects the labor-intensive
nature of the training we provide. Another $300,000 covers rent,
printing, delivery of our publications, insurance,
supplies and miscellaneous expenses.
Income:
Our income comes largely from foundations and corporations (over
75%), government grants and individual contributions. We also have
earned income of about $100,000 from subscriptions, royalties, advertising, book sales,
and consulting. And we get in-kind support from The New York Times (printing), and groups like Gifts in Kind and Tech Soup (technology).
Contributions
are welcome from individuals and from foundations and corporations.
Youth Communication is a 501-c-3 nonprofit organization. Contributions are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
