Acceptance
The
positive response to the three "pilot" issues we publish
in the spring and summer of 1980 convinces us of the viability of
New Youth Connections. We spend the next several months looking
for funding and office space.

Circulation
Jumps to 44,000; Regular Publication Schedule Begins; School System
Recognizes Program: In January 1981, we begin publishing eight
issues of NYC during the school year. A marketing project
increases circulation to 44,000 by June. The school system allows
students to receive school credit for their work on the magazine.
NYC is becoming established as the voice of New York teens.
Two full-time adult staff, Keith Hefner and Tony McGinty, are directing
the program.
Media

writes that NYC is "an effective voice for the young."
